Vintage and Costumes

Start on Moreland Ave NE, where the shops line the stretch between Mansfield Ave and Euclid Ave. Junkman’s Daughter (464 Moreland Ave NE) is the alternative department store in a former grocery: clothing, shoes, band and movie tees, wigs, tarot, incense and pins across one big floor. Its flying-saucer awning has come down, replaced by a facade mural by Atlanta folk artist Kyle "BlackCatTips" Brooks, with an easter egg for the old UFO.

A short walk up, Psycho Sisters (428 Moreland Ave NE) sorts its vintage racks by era, from 1920s flapper to 1980s rocker, with costumes and festival wear; it is open every day of the year until 9pm (10pm in summer). The Clothing Warehouse (420 Moreland Ave NE) has color-sorted vintage tees, denim, flannels, leather jackets and cowboy boots, plus a separate rare-vintage selection.

Vinyl Since 1976

Wax 'n' Facts (432 Moreland Ave NE) has sold records since 1976: new and used vinyl in every genre, CDs, cassettes and turntables. Across the street, Abbadabba’s Cool Shoes (421B Moreland Ave NE), here since 1981, carries Dr. Martens, Birkenstock, Blundstone and other comfort and outdoor brands. For a break, Aurora Coffee (468 Moreland Ave NE) is the coffee stop in the middle of the strip, and Sevananda (467 Moreland Ave NE), the consumer-owned natural foods co-op, is open to everyone daily 8am to 9pm.

Resale, Soul and Comics

Turn onto Euclid Ave NE. Rag-O-Rama (1111 Euclid Ave NE) sells recycled classic, current and vintage clothing and buys clothes every day from 11am to 7pm, so bring a bag to trade in. Moods Music (1131 Euclid Ave NE) covers soul, neo soul, acid jazz, rare grooves, house and hip-hop, with a room just for vinyl LPs. Criminal Records (1154-A Euclid Ave NE) is the third record stop, with comics, posters and band tees as well, and Crystal Blue (1168 Euclid Ave NE), in the neighborhood since 1985, sells tumbled stones, tarot decks, candles, incense and singing bowls.

Parking, MARTA and Hours

Most shops open between 11am and noon and close around 7pm; a few stay open until 8 or 9pm, and some smaller shops close Monday and Tuesday. Street parking mixes free, time-limited and paid spaces, and private lots are for their own customers only, so read the signs; Junkman’s Daughter has its own free lot on Moreland Ave, and there is free street parking off Mansfield Ave. MARTA’s Inman Park/Reynoldstown station (Blue and Green lines) is a 10 to 15 minute walk. The Little Five Points Halloween Parade in October is the neighborhood’s biggest yearly event; its date shifts, so check before you go.
