Insider guide
Shopping Inman Park.
The Lay of the Land
Inman Park, Atlanta’s first planned suburb, is where Victorian houses meet the Eastside BeltLine. The shopping comes in three pockets: Krog St NE from Edgewood Ave to Lake Ave, through Krog Street Market and Atlanta Stove Works; Inman Quarter at N Highland Ave NE and Elizabeth St; and Haralson Ave NE. The Krog Street Tunnel, built in 1913 beneath the rail lines and known for its street art, links Inman Park with Cabbagetown and Reynoldstown.
Skip the parking hunt if you can. The market’s own lot is small and fills fast on weekends, street parking on the residential streets is partly resident-only, and evening valet runs beside The Luminary on Krog St, at the main entrance on Lake Ave and at Stove Works. MARTA’s Blue and Green lines stop at Inman Park/Reynoldstown station, and the Eastside Trail runs a few steps from the market.
Krog Street Market and Stove Works
Inside Krog Street Market, The Merchant sells stationery and home goods from Voluspa, Matt & Nat, Rifle Paper and Fishs Eddy, and The Collective mixes home and garden goods, vintage clothing, antiques, jewelry and succulents. Xocolatl roasts and grinds cacao on site and hand-wraps single-origin dark bars at the counter. Hop City Beer & Wine pours wine tastings Friday and Saturday 3–8pm and runs Wine Down Wednesdays with $5 wines by the glass. FP Movement (Suite C100) sells Free People’s activewear.
Across the street, outdoor brands face the trail. Patagonia’s BeltLine flagship carries artwork from local curators Living Walls and hosts community events, Specialized sells bikes in Atlanta Stove Works, and YETI has its first Atlanta-area store, about 4,800 square feet of coolers, drinkware and bags, at Lake Ave and Krog St. Every other Saturday from noon to 6pm, the Stove Works Supply market fills the Stove Works breezeway with about twenty local vintage sellers and makers.
Inman Quarter, Haralson Ave and the Trail
A Cappella Books has sold new, used and antiquarian books for more than 30 years, with handwritten staff picks, author events and trade-ins for store credit or cash. At Inman Quarter, Bill Hallman sells its own label of dresses and menswear alongside casual brands, and Social Status carries sneakers and streetwear. VinoTeca focuses on natural, organic and biodynamic wine with a strong Spanish section, and pours a $15 flight of three wines daily that changes each Thursday. Savi Provisions is the neighborhood market for chef-made bowls, sandwiches and wine. In SPX Alley on the Eastside Trail, Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming stocks dog treats and toys and does grooming.
Eating Between Shops
Krog Street Market is the easy answer. Fred’s Meat & Bread does a pimento cheese club, an Italian grinder and barbecue fries, Superica makes Tex-Mex with fresh tortillas and margaritas, and Ticonderoga Club serves chef David Bies’ tiki-inflected plates with a large rum list. Little Tart Bakeshop bakes with seasonal ingredients, and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams has a counter in the market and another at Stove Works. On the trail, PopUp Bagels and Brash Coffee are morning stops. For dinner, Delbar serves Persian-style tahdig and lamb neck, and BoccaLupo does Italian-American comfort food, à la carte or as a four-course tasting.
When to Go
Krog Street Market runs Monday to Thursday 7am–9pm, Friday 7am–10pm, Saturday 8am–10pm and Sunday 8am–9pm, and The Merchant is open to 9pm every day. The neighborhood shops mostly open around 10am–noon and close 7–9pm; A Cappella keeps Monday to Saturday 10am–7pm and Sunday noon–6pm, and Specialized closes at 6pm. Patagonia opens at 11am on weekdays and 10am on weekends. YETI and Bill Hallman don’t post hours, so call ahead. If you’re after vintage, time the visit for a Stove Works Supply Saturday.
